EuCIA, together with leading stakeholders in the carbon fibre value chain, has published a position paper welcoming the European Commission’s revision of the End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive. Carbon fibre is a strategic, non-hazardous material essential to the EU’s Clean Industrial Deal and green transition. Its use in lightweight, high-performance composites reduces emissions and enhances durability across critical sectors like automotive, aerospace, energy, and defence. The position paper highlights the recyclability and safety of carbon fibre, calling for its exclusion from restrictive measures in the ELV Regulation. Industry stakeholders urge EU policymakers to support carbon fibre as a key enabler of circularity, innovation, and industrial resilience in Europe. The signatories are: ACEA, Composite Materials Italy, DowAska, EuCIA, Hexcel, Mitsubishi Chemical Europe, TECH-FAB Europe, Teijin Carbon.
