This not only fills the gap in the commercialisation of large-volume vehicle-mounted IV bottle hydrogen storage technology in China, but will also help the hydrogen heavy trucks of the partner Shanghai Wuliu Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. set a new benchmark in the field of long-distance trunk logistics.

The Type IV hydrogen storage bottles used in this batch use the technology of fully winding carbon fibre with plastic liner, achieving 3 core breakthroughs, according to Tianhai Hydrogen Energy: the volume of a single bottle is increased to 450 l, the total hydrogen storage capacity of the system reaches 86 kg; the cruising range exceeds the 1,000-km mark; and the overall weight is reduced by 600 kg compared with the traditional Type III bottle solution. The energy consumption of the whole vehicle is significantly reduced, and the operating efficiency is increased by more than 15%, perfectly responding to the core demand of the logistics industry for more and faster.

Tianhai Hydrogen Energy claims its 35 MPa-450 l is the 1st Type IV bottle product in China to pass the national standard certification. The company simultaneously developed 390 l, 450 l and other series of products, which have passed a number of rigorous development certifications regarding safety and stability. The commercial application of this large-volume lightweight hydrogen storage technology will significantly reduce the operating costs of hydrogen heavy trucks and accelerate the popularisation of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in trunk logistics scenarios.

As the global hydrogen energy industry rapidly develops towards large volume, lightweight and high pressure, Tianhai Hydrogen Energy continues to increase the research and development innovation of the core technology of Type IV bottles, further consolidating its position in the field of domestic hydrogen storage systems.
