Core tips:The annual market report finds that wind turbine blade applications drove a 43.8% year-over-year surge in global carbon fiber demand to 224,510 metric tons, while China's capacity share exceeded half of global supply for the first time.
ATA CFT Guangzhou Co. Ltd. (Guangzhou, China) general manager Lin Gang has published his annual global carbon fiber composites market report, this time covering full-year 2025 statistics, trends and observations.

According to the report, global carbon fiber demand reached 224,510 metric tons in 2025, up 43.8% from 156,100 metric tons in 2024. Wind turbine blade applications were the dominant driver of that growth, accounting for 44.5% of total global demand at 100,000 metric tons — the first time the wind sector has crossed that threshold. The wind power market had already grown 120% in 2024; the report records a further 127.3% increase in 2025. In terms of revenue, global carbon fiber sales reached $5.44 billion, up 26.3% from $4.31 billion in 2024, with average prices remaining broadly flat and volume accounting for the gain.
Aerospace and defense remained the highest-value application segment, representing 13.4% of demand by volume but 44.1% of revenue, reflecting a market price of roughly $80/kilograms compared to $12/kilograms for wind. That segment posted 13.6% year-over-year demand growth in 2025, driven by UAVs, commercial space and a partial recovery in commercial aviation. The sports and leisure segment returned to steady growth after several years of volatility, rising 9.8% to 31,300 metric tons.
On the supply side, 2025 marked a significant shift in the global competitive landscape. China’s operational carbon fiber capacity reached 171,080 metric tons — 52.5% of the global total of 326,080 metric tons — the first time China has exceeded half of worldwide capacity.
According to the report, global carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites demand reached 366,800 metric tons in 2025, up 38.6% from 264,700 metric tons in 2024. Global CFRP revenue grew to $30.35 billion from $26.25 billion the prior year, a 15.6% increase. Wind turbine blade applications accounted for 38.9% of CFRP volume, while aerospace and defense represented 60.8% of CFRP revenue.
