Core tips:The Rhode Island company joins a growing international development team, bringing its composites background to advance the full-foiling offshore race yacht project.
The 40OF Team has formed a strategic collaboration with Moore Brothers Co. (Bristol, R.I., U.S.), which will represent the the offshore race yacht team across the U.S. Canada and the Caribbean while serving as the project’s North American build and development partner.

Designed by Wilson/Marquinez Naval Architecture, the 40OF is a full-foiling offshore race yacht, developed to bring innovative foiling technology into offshore sailing through an accessible and manageable platform. Building on the design DNA established through the successful 69F project, the 40-foot vessel combines performance, safety and accessibility with four distinct sailing modes — displacement, foil-assisted, stern-down foiling and full-flight foiling — from approximately 12 knots of wind speed, which allow crews to explore the full potential of offshore foiling while retaining the ability to dock, moor and operate independently in conventional harbors and marinas.

Moore Brothers Co. has a history serving the composites industry, but most prominently through the build of REGENT’s Seaglider. The Rhode Island company also acquired composite tooling assets through Symmetrix. The company confirmed with CW that prepregs, carbon fiber and Nomex honeycomb core materials will be used in the 40OF yacht’s build.
