Brazilian manufacturer of structural composite panels Diprofiber – which also supplies raw materials for composite processing – has launched CoreFloor, the country’s first thermoplastic composite flooring system intended for industrialised construction, i.e. the manufacture of all or part of a building’s components in an industrial setting, followed by their assembly on site. CoreFloor uses a glass-fibre-reinforced thermoplastic composite sheet as its surface layer.
The Diprofiber system combines high mechanical strength with low weight; it is recyclable and can be installed quickly – a requirement that is becoming increasingly common in construction projects, given ever-shorter deadlines and tighter control over project delivery. Data centres are an example of an application where the installation process is particularly quick, making ready-to-install modules very useful. In this context, composite panels offer advantages in applications traditionally dominated by steel, aluminium, timber and other conventional materials.
“Today, many construction projects no longer allow for long assembly processes on site. CoreFloor was designed to deliver a ready-to-install, lightweight, standardised flooring solution, especially for projects in which schedule and execution control are decisive,” says Felipe Amorim, Product Development Lead at Diprofiber.
“The product did not emerge in isolation. It comes from a path built through projects for boats, road implements, motorhomes, and industrial structures. This track record showed where composite panels can solve concrete challenges related to weight, assembly, durability, and maintenance,” he explains.
