Lockheed Martin, Albany Engineered Composites Team Up for Hypersonics

Lockheed Martin (Bethesda, Md., U.S.) and Albany Engineered Composites (AEC, Rochester, N.H., U.S.), a segment of Albany International Corp., have announced an agreement to accelerate the delivery of high-rate, mission-ready hypersonic capabilities at the speed and scale demanded by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), through a combination of Lockheed’s proven systems integration with Albany’s agile composites manufacturing.
The collaboration offers a unified, low-risk solution designed to accelerate development schedules. Built on a flexible structure with defined roles and cost responsibilities, the agreement enables both partners to adapt quickly to shifting program requirements and government directives.

“The future of hypersonics depends on more than breakthrough design — it requires the ability to manufacture advanced composite structures at unprecedented scale,” Chris Stone, president of AEC, says.
