CW presents post-JEC 2024 highlights

Another successful year is in the books for JEC World, the international trade show dedicated to composite materials, their production processes and application sectors, presented by JEC Group (Paris, France). Post-show figures indicate that there were more than 43,500 professional visitors to meet the 1,300-plus exhibitors and explore the 27 pavilions on the show floor. With more than 50 countries in attendance, Europe (excluding France) and Asia Pacific exhibitors were predominate.

CompositesWorld editors were also in attendance to discover some of the latest and greatest materials, technologies, equipment and services available to the industry, as well as learn about new startup companies, all of which is presented in the three reports below. While not comprehensive, each account is still indicative of some of the key trends that we are seeing — or are continuing to see — moving into 2024:

• Recap #1: Senior technical editor Ginger Gardiner discusses some of the materials-related developments and demonstrators that caught her eye, including thermoplastic composites and ceramic matrix composites (CMC), among others.
• Recap #2: CW technical editor Hannah Mason discusses trends seen at this year’s JEC World trade show, including sustainability-focused technologies and commitments and the Paris Olympics.
• Recap #3: Scott Francis, CW editor-in-chief, touches on a variety of exhibitors debuting material and process options that all geared toward efficiency, whether it’s to boost composite toolmaking, layup inspection or application capabilities. Thermoplastics-related projects were also prominently on display.
