Organising workshops and exchange breakfasts, meeting manufacturers and inviting them to visualise the activity of their production site in real time, with a view to technology and the environment. Here are just a few examples of what’s going on in Techlab, the new collaborative workspace of industrial software publisher Aveva, located at La Défense. The Paris offices of the Schneider Electric subsidiary, which have been open for a year and a half, were officially inaugurated on 26 November to launch the new Aveva Connect industrial intelligence platform and its AI-based assistance tool.
“This space is an opportunity to offer demonstrations of our new tool and to introduce manufacturers to our virtual reality application,” explains Benjamin Loubet, Senior Pre-Sales Manager at Aveva.
“We work with our customers on data from an ecosystem. So we look for the maximum number of connections between the information available. We have done a great deal of work on optimising industrial processes, the ability to operate variables efficiently and the acceleration of artificial intelligence. That’s why we created the Aveva Connect platform and its industrial AI assistant, which aggregates industrial data while integrating artificial intelligence”, continues Sébastien Ory, Vice-President of Southern Europe at Aveva and Managing Director of Aveva France.
“To meet our customers’ needs, we need quality data. We collect three types of data: engineering data, operational data and real-time data. For a wind turbine, for example, we will know the temperature, speed, vibration, etc.’ explains Benjamin Loubet. Aveva will then offer 3D modelling to present the data in a visual and informative way, making it easier to navigate through contextualised data. “The cloud is a valuable tool in this context, because it enables information to be shared with as many people as possible”, says Benjamin Loubet.
For a wind farm, for example, alerts can be issued from on-screen diagrams, and the platform will then be able to drill down from granularity to granularity into the heart of the operational, maintenance or financial data. This will make it easier to take decisions, for example on wind turbine maintenance, at a time when the cost of electricity sold is at its lowest. An artificial intelligence assistant has been installed on the Aveva Connect platform. “This assistant makes it possible to search for the steps required for specific maintenance without having to go through a 300-page manual, for example”, explains Ilaria Michelizzi, pre-sales manager for Southern Europe and artificial intelligence specialist at Aveva. However, machine learning remains limited to each customer because of intellectual property rights. This does not prevent Aveva from offering models inspired by predictions that have already been made. “This is industrial expertise infused into the software. We are also working on the creation of automatic dashboards”, continues Ms Michelizzi. To make the most of the potential of its customers’ industrial data, Aveva has signed a partnership agreement with the data intelligence platform Databricks, which achieved 70% growth in France this year.
“We can no longer meet all the major challenges we face on our own. Thanks to third-party big data platforms such as Databricks, we will be able to handle other types of data”, says Guillaume Boué, Director of Technology Partnerships.
Software publisher Aveva employs 6,500 people worldwide, with more than 20,000 customers and 100,000 industrial sites. The company has been present in France for 40 years, where it employs around 100 people and generates 2/3 of its sales for Southern Europe. Its software is distributed in France by Factory Software.
