Industrial Fan Services Ltd. (WDB Group, Halesowen, U.K.), a company designing, manufacturing and supplying high-performance industrial fans, has announced the latest advancement in its range of centrifugal fans — the development of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) impellers. These impellers boast higher strength compared to existing high-tensile materials.
The introduction of CFRP impellers offers a substantial increase in operational life, especially critical for applications involving high stress and cycling operations, the company reports. Traditional high-tensile steel impellers require inspection every 6 months, particularly in demanding applications like glass tempering fans. In contrast, CFRP impellers eliminate the need for these frequent checks, reducing maintenance downtime and operational disruptions.
In addition to high strength, CFRP impellers offer corrosion resistance, making them ideal for use in harsh environments. Moreover, their cost is more favorable than with more exotic materials required in the petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Industrial Fan Services designs and manufacture a large range of light-, medium- and heavy-duty centrifugal fans suitable for all industries. It specializes in multi-vane, backward lamina, backward aerofoil, backward curved and high-pressure fans, to name a few.
