Hexagon Agility (Costa Mesa, Calif., U.S.), a subsidiary of Hexagon Composites ASA (Ålesund, Norway) has received an order from Gillig (Livermore, Calif., U.S.), a North American manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses, to deliver compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel systems for 476 new buses in Dallas, Texas.

With more than 30 million passenger trips taken on Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) every year, this fleet modernization effort will help DART continue to meet the evolving needs of its riders with safer, cleaner and more efficient public transport. Passengers can expect to see the new buses on North Texas routes by spring 2026, prior to the region serving as host to the FIFA World Cup.

Bill Fay, VP of sales at Gillig, explains that the new CNG buses via this long-term partnership will deliver safe, reliable and cost-effective transit solutions to the Dallas area. Across North America, many other transit agencies are already accelerating the shift away from diesel as alternatives like CNG prove high performance at lower operating costs in major cities like Los Angeles, Albuquerque and Cleveland.

Deliveries of the CNG fuel systems are scheduled to start in Q3 of 2025.
