Interview Andrés Mitnik Asun, CEO, Strong by Form
JEC Composites Magazine: Can you introduce Strong by Form in a few words?
Andrés Mitnik: Strong by Form is a Spanish deep tech company with a team of 22 professionals. We specialise in developing high-performance timber composites through our proprietary Woodflow technology. Our strategic partnerships include industry leaders such as BMW, Deutsche Bahn, VINCI, CMPC, FINSA and Pfeifer, enabling us to integrate our solutions across various sectors. What is the purpose of your solution, and how do composites make it real?
A.M.: Our mission is to decarbonise the built environment by replacing carbon-intensive materials like concrete, steel and aluminium with sustainable, high-performance timber composites. By leveraging the principles of biomimicry, digital design and automated manufacturing, we create composites that combine the strength and durability of traditional materials with the sustainability and aesthetic appeal of wood. Sustainability is at the heart of your approach, starting with nature’s observations to biobased materials and high recyclability of the final products. How did you manage to end the circle of this 360° approach?
A.M.: At Strong by Form, our sustainability philosophy follows a clear hierarchy: first, material efficiency; then, reusability; and finally, recyclability. Inspired by the way trees optimise their structure to use resources only where needed, we apply computational optimisation and digital fabrication to minimise material use without compromising performance.

Inspired by nature, Strong by Form creates lightweight structural solutions that fuse the sustainability of wood with the performance and productivity of advanced composites
