Acciona’s net financial debt stood at €7.71 billion ($US8.98 billion), a decrease of 6.3%. Ordinary gross capital expenditure also fell by 23.8% to €1.24 billion ($US1.44 billion), of which €935 million ($US1088.56 million) was allocated to Acciona Energía, €256 million (US$298,05 million) to Infrastructure and €55 million ($US64.03 million) to Nordex, owned by Acciona since 2016.
Acciona Energía’s net profit up by more than 600%
The net profit of Acciona Energía, Acciona’s renewable energy division, rose sharply to €455 million (US$529.73 million), an increase of 603.6%. The department’s revenue amounted to €1.47 billion (+10.2%) and its EBITDA reached €908 million (+116.9%).
During the first half of the year, the company sold numerous hydroelectric and wind power assets, totalling 1,202 megawatts (MW) and worth €1.748 billion (US$2.04 billion). Acciona Energía’s total installed capacity thus stood at 15,147 MW, with growth of 1.2 GW over the last 12 months. During the first half of the year, the company added 448 MW of new renewable energy in India (166 MW), Spain (115 MW), Australia (105 MW) and Canada (63 MW).
Acciona Energía has several projects under construction, notably in the Philippines, the Dominican Republic and India. The group plans to install a further 600 megawatts of capacity this year.
Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex recorded revenues of €3.31 billion (US$3.85 billion), representing a decline of 3.7%. However, orders secured by the subsidiary in the first half of the year were worth more than €4.13 billion (US$4.81 billion), an increase of 38.3%. Nordex’s total order backlog increased by 29.9% to €14.33 billion (US$16.68 billion).
