Hexagon Digital Wave (Centennial, Colo., U.S.), a subsidiary of Hexagon Composites, has entered into a long-term agreement (LTA) with a premier U.S. oilfield services company, to provide exclusive requalification services to the company’s fleet of virtual pipeline trailers — all of which have composite cylinders on board. The LTA runs through the end of 2027.
Hexagon Digital Wave uses its proprietary modal acoustic emission (MAE) technology to perform in situ requalification of virtual pipeline trailers. MAE is a highly accurate method for the inspection of composite cylinders, ensuring high safety and compliance standards for gas transportation. It is a noninvasive solution, reducing trailer downtime for requalification while simultaneously providing enhanced information about the structural integrity of the composite laminate that cannot be obtained by the legacy method of hydrostatic testing.
“Hexagon Digital Wave is committed to providing customers with optimal service where they operate,” notes Dr. Brian Burks, president, Hexagon Digital Wave. “Operating in key customer geographies minimizes downtime and logistical challenges, enabling us to deliver an even more seamless and efficient customer experience.”
Hexagon Digital Wave has pioneered MAE technology and completed the requalification of more than 800 composite gas distribution trailers across North America.
