“This acquisition marks a significant milestone for us personally and for the entire Neumarkt team,” said Manfred Bankhammer. “We are proud to continue the legacy of excellence built over decades and look forward to deepening our relationships with customers in our core markets.“
Founded in 1947 and part of Hexcel since 1996, the Neumarkt site has been a cornerstone of industrial composite production, manufacturing high-performance materials such as glass and carbon fibre-reinforced epoxy prepregs, laminates and polyurethane formulations. These products serve a wide range of industries including wind energy, winter sports, marine and automotive.
“As new owners, our commitment remains unchanged,” emphasized Paul Leitner. “We will continue to deliver outstanding quality, reliable service and on-time delivery – values that define our promise to customers and partners.”
“The continuity of operations ensures stability for employees and customers alike, while opening new opportunities for focused growth and innovation under the new ownership,” says Hexcel in a press release.
Thierry Merlot, Hexcel President EAP & Industrial, commented: “At Hexcel, we are delighted to have reached an agreement with Paul Leitner and Manfred Bankhammer for the acquisition of the Neumarkt site to further drive innovation in composite materials for industrial applications. At the same time, Hexcel will continue to serve the industrial market and applications where we can leverage our premium aerospace-grade carbon fibre.”
No explicit cause has been communicated to explain this transfer. We can note that Hexcel declared in a press release in October 2024 that it intended to “refocus its industrial business around preferred carbon fibre applications” that “align with its core competencies.” Therefore, the company said it was “is “exploring strategic options for its operations in Austria and [was] currently in a process to find a suitable successor for the Neumarkt plant.”
