Bcomp is thrilled to announce its recent achievement in becoming a Certified B Corporation, a significant milestone that underscores their commitment to upholding high standards of social, environmental, and operational performance. This certification aligns with their purpose and sustainability strategy, reinforcing their dedication to decarbonising manufacturing and driving the transition towards greater circularity and an economic system that benefits both society and the environment.

Certified by the non-profit network of organisations known as B Lab, the B Corp Certification evaluates a company’s impact across five key areas: environment, governance, customers, workers, and community. The rigorous assessment process involved defining a series of metrics to measure Bcomp’s ongoing and verifiable improvements in performance, accountability, and transparency in each of these areas.

At Bcomp, by using bio-based materials as alternatives to traditional fossil-based materials, they contribute to more sustainable manufacturing practices. Beyond reducing their own operational impacts, their lightweight materials not only reduce their direct carbon footprint but also help their clients in various industries lower their own emissions and work towards more circular, eco-friendly production processes. By working collaboratively with their customers, including automotive OEMs and other manufacturers across a wide range of sectors, in achieving their ESG goals and offering third party-verified GHG emissions data, they are committed to decarbonising their operations.

At the governance level, they are focusing on sustainable growth. With the recent appointment of Ms Laurence Noël to their board, succeeding CEO Christian Fischer to mark a clear separation between the board and the executive team, they continue to strengthen their focus on environmental governance. Her expertise further strengthens the board’s understanding of and commitment to environment-related issues and impacts, and to its active involvement in overseeing the impacts related to their rapid growth and scaling.

Internally, Bcomp is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, healthy, and innovative work environment. They have introduced employee welfare initiatives, including equitable pay structures and flexible working conditions that prioritise work-life balance. Employees are encouraged to engage in leisure activities through employee-led groups, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. In addition, Bcomp actively supports the local community in Fribourg by creating jobs, and fostering strong connections with universities and educational institutions, helping to nurture innovation and local talent.

Bcomp is excited to continue leading the way in integrating sustainable practices into every facet of their operations and supporting others in the process of doing the same.

Obtaining the B Corp certification reaffirms Bcomp’s dedication to sustainable growth, which has been at the core of our company since 2011,” says Christian Fischer, CEO and Co-Founder of Bcomp. “Through collective action with our stakeholders, we’re working towards a future where business is a force for good, balancing profit with environmental stewardship by decarbonising the world through innovative bio-based materials.
