AZL Aachen GmbH (Aachen, Germany) is inviting industry to attend its annual event, AZL Open Day, taking place April 9, 2025. The one-day in-person event will provide exclusive insight into AZL and its partner institutes’ research ecosystem and offers an in-depth look at the latest developments in lightweight technology and composites.
AZL Open Day takes place on the RWTH Aachen University campus and is open to all interested participants (AZL and non-AZL members). Registration is possible until March 26, 2025.
The event includes guided tours and presentations from AZL’s eight partner institutes showcasing innovations across the entire composites and lightweight value chain — from fiber production and advanced processing technologies to quality assurance and structural testing. A Networking Lunch is dedicated to fostering collaboration and exchange between industry experts and research engineers.
Moreover, on April 8, prior to Open Day, AZL will be hosting the third “Future Mobility” workgroup meeting, which will will delve into the latest composite technologies and applications driving the future of mobility, offering attendees insights into this dynamic sector.

- Aachen Center for Integrative Lightweight Production (AZL)
- Institute of Plastics Processing (IKV) in Industry and the Skilled Crafts
- Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL)
- Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika)
- Institute for Structural Mechanics and Lightweight Design (SLA)
- Welding and Joining Institute (ISF)
Other participants include Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT) and Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT).
