Amidst the accelerating global push for shipping decarbonization and increasingly stringent carbon emission regulations from IMO, Ningbo Zhoushan Port is proactively meeting the challenges of the international shipping industry's shift towards low-carbon operations, continuously strengthening its "Port Fuel Supply" brand.
Since completing Zhejiang Province's inaugural LNG bunkering operation at the Meishan port area in June 2023, the port has rapidly expanded its LNG bunkering services with strong support and guidance from local authorities and port management agencies. Operations have been successfully extended to the major core port areas of Chuanshan and Daxie, and the port has secured qualifications for bunkering at the Zhoushan anchorage. This progress has enabled the gradual establishment of a routine bunkering network covering its core operational zones.
Building on this foundation, the port achieved a remarkable feat in March this year, with both the number of LNG bunkering operations and the volume supplied surpassing the total figures recorded throughout the previous year.
Leveraging its status as the world's largest port and its maturing service system, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has successfully established cooperative relationships with international shipping giants, including MSC, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, and Matson.
Following the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation in May between Zhejiang Provincial Seaport Group & Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group and Pacific International Lines (PIL), the port efficiently completed PIL's inaugural LNG bunkering operation within just three days.
