Baojing Composites delivered the first large-span LX-1 wing for eVTOL

As an emerging field that is supported by the country, the LX-1 drone is tasked with exploring new logistics routes. Faced with technical barriers such as large-wingspan structural design and composite material moulding, Baojing Composites and the airline formed a joint team to collaborate in key links such as material selection, structural design and process optimisation. In order to overcome the difficulty of large-wingspan structural strength, they worked continuously for several months at the production site, and finally mastered a number of key technologies such as large-size reinforced skin integral moulding, C-beam rebound deformation control, low-cost tooling and mould manufacturing, opening up a new path for the design and manufacture of large-wingspan logistics aircraft.

This delivery not only confirmed Baojing Composites’ aerospace-grade composite manufacturing capabilities, overcame the most fundamental structural technical difficulties of the LX-1 project and laid a solid foundation for the completion of subsequent flight tests. More importantly, it verified the potential of the “innovative design + advanced manufacturing” collaborative model, the company said.

Baojing Composites will continue to increase its R&D investment in carbon fibre composite materials and pursue its cooperation with the airline in more areas such as lightweighting eVTOL aircraft and building a drone logistics network and it will go on equipping China’s low-altitude economy with “material wings.”
