Swancor supports NTHU Racing Team’s Formula Student 2025 race car

To accelerate innovation in composite materials and foster next-generation engineering talent, Swancor (Nantou, Taiwain) has announced a partnership with National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) Racing Team (Taiwan), aiming to develop advanced carbon fiber wheel rims for the university’s 10^th generation electric formula race car, THX.

This collaboration marks a step forward in the integration of academic and industry. Swancor has connected the NTHU team with its high-quality production facilities and key equipment — including high-temperature autoclaves — while also sharing critical experience in composite forming techniques, process optimization and quality control. This ensured that every aspect of the materials used met the rigorous testing of motorsports.

“The breakthrough in this year’s vehicle is the lightweight design,” states Shu-Wei Shen, vice captain of the NTHU Racing Team. “We replaced the conventional aluminum chassis with a carbon fiber monocoque, reducing the weight by 7 kilograms. The 10-inch carbon fiber wheel rims and lightweight wheel-end system helped to shear an additional 18 kilograms — significantly boosting performance.”

Engaging with students in real-world R&D and manufacturing environments demonstrates Swancor’s long-term commitment to talent development and sustainable innovation. 

The THX race car is heading to compete this August in three Formula Student competitions across Hungary, the Czech Republic and Germany, including events featuring autonomous electric vehicles. With this upgraded car, the team is expecting new milestones on the international stage.
